Candle Burning Instructions

Read the warning label on the bottom of the container before first use. Trim wick to 1/4” before every light. During the first burn, allow the entire top layer of wax to liquify, to prevent “channeling” from occurring during future uses. Do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Candle Wax Removal Instructions

When you are finished with your candle simply remove as much of the wax as you can with a butter knife, soften remaining wax with a hair dryer and wipe clean with a paper towel. Clean any remaining wax residue with soap and water.

Seed Paper Instructions

Soak seed paper logo wrap in water. Fill your ceramic pot 3/4 of the way with soil. Tear seed paper into small pieces and place on soil, lightly sprinkle soil on top to fully cover. Keep moist until seed paper sprouts, then water as needed. The paper contains 11 different varieties of wildflower seeds. You should see sprouts with 24-48 hours but some of the varieties take 3 weeks to germinate. We usually us a small spray bottle to keep the soil moist for the first 3 weeks before we start watering. Keep plants in front of a sunny window and you should only have to water once a week.

Who makes the candles and what are the quality standards?

All of the candles are hand poured in small batches in our home studio in Toledo Ohio. We only use the highest quality waxes, wicks and fragrance oils resulting in the best candle on the market. We do not ship rejects or candles from unsuccessful batches (those get burned on our back patio).

I’m worried about receiving a candle that is too overpowering, how strong/light is the scent?

When scenting our candles, our goal is to mimic the scent of the desired herb or plant. Many natural scents can begin smelling soapy or resembling cleaning products when they are too strong (lavender is a perfect example of this). We take every precaution to avoid this. To learn more about how we test our scents, read the “our store” page on our website.

What if I don’t like the scent once it’s delivered?

We offer free exchanges on all of our candles. If you don’t love the fragrance or pot its contained in, simply send an email to hello@thegrowingcandle.com with your request and the scent or pot you would like it replaced with. We love your feedback, so please include your constructive criticism with your request. We will then email you paid postage for your return. Once a return is received we will ship you a replacement. Please note that this warranty is voided once the candle wick is lit.
